Within eformity, a user can easily create documents from the sidebar. This article will explain more about creating documents in eformity. Creating documents involves three main steps:

  1. Opening the sidebar in Microsoft Word
  2. Opening a document in the sidebar
  3. Saving the document

Are creating templates and documents the same?

No. This article is about creating documents, not creating templates. When creating documents, a previously defined template is used. Templates are created by template administrators.

Step 1: Open the sidebar in Microsoft Word

To create a document from Microsoft Word, you must first open the sidebar. In most cases, the sidebar opens automatically. If this is not the case, you can use the button in the ribbon titled 'Show/Hide Sidebar'.

Step 2: Open the document

When the sidebar is open, you can open a document. To open a document from the sidebar, you must first select it. You can select a document by clicking on it. The image below shows what this looks like.

Once you have selected a document, you can open it. There are two ways to open a document: you can open a document by double-clicking on it (relatively quickly) or by clicking on the 'Play' icon. This icon is circled below.

Optional: Fill in the dialogue

For some documents, a dialogue/window with input fields will now open. The values (number 1 in the image) you enter here are used as variables in the document. Fill in all required fields and then click 'Finish' (number 2 in the image).

Optional: Add text

For many templates, additional text will need to be added. This is the case, for example, with a letter. If your document does not need additional text, you can skip this step.

Step 3: Save the document

The final step is to save the document. Saving documents is done in the usual way within Microsoft Word. To save a document, first click on the 'Save' icon. Then, a new window will open where you can specify where you want to save the document.

More information about saving documents can be found in an article from Microsoft called 'Save a document'.
