Creating multilingual Documents and SmartParts
With eformity, you can easily create documents in different languages. To ensure that a template supports multiple languages, you need to insert translations into the template or building block. Inserting translations into documents and building blocks involves three steps:
- Open the eformity sidebar
- Edit the desired template
- Insert translations
Step 1: Open the eformity sidebar
To edit a template, you first need to open the eformity sidebar. In every Microsoft application that eformity integrates with, the sidebar is automatically opened. If this does not happen, you can manually open the sidebar by clicking on 'Show/Hide Sidebar'.

Step 2: Edit the desired template
Once the sidebar is open, you must first enable 'Edit mode'. Do this by clicking on the 'profile photo' in the sidebar. After clicking on the profile photo, a new element will open.

In this new element, you can activate 'Edit mode'. See the image below for a visual representation. The 'Edit mode' section is circled.

With 'Edit mode' activated, you can now edit the desired template. Do this by first selecting the desired template (by clicking on it). Then click on the pen icon (number 2 in the image) or the edit menu (number 3 in the image).

Step 3: Insert translations
The template will open in a new document. In this new document, you can insert translations. To insert a translation, first navigate to the 'Translations' tab. In most cases, you need to click on the three circles to access this tab.

You can now insert a translation by first clicking on the location in the template where you want the translation to appear. Then select a translation by clicking on it. Finally, click on the 'Play' icon. You can also double-click on a translation to insert it.

You have just inserted a translation! When a user changes the document language and opens this template, the translation will be displayed instead of the default text.
My translation isn’t appearing?
If the translation is not appearing, it may be due to an additional field code, such as MERGEFORMAT. To check this, press Alt+F9 to show the field codes. Remove any additional codes (e.g., * MERGEFORMAT).
