Creating multilingual input screens (dialogs)
Within eformity, you can translate the variables on the input screen (dialogs). This is ideal for companies where employees speak different languages, as it allows you to create multilingual dialogs. This article explains how to do this.
Step 1: Open the eformity sidebar
To add a translation within a dialog, you first need to open the eformity sidebar. This should be done within the Microsoft application associated with your template. In this example, we are using Microsoft Word.
In most cases, the sidebar will automatically open when you start the Microsoft application. If this does not happen, you can click on 'Show/Hide Sidebar' in the ribbon. See the image below for visual support.

Step 2: Edit the desired template
Once the sidebar is open, you can edit the desired template (for which the dialog is used). To edit a template, you first need to activate 'Edit mode'. Do this by clicking on the 'profile photo' in the sidebar.

A new element will now appear in the sidebar. In this element, activate 'Edit mode' by clicking on the slider in the section titled 'Edit mode'. See the image below for the location of the slider.

You can now select and edit a template by clicking (once) on it. Then you can click on the pen icon (2 in the image) or the edit menu (3 in the image).

After clicking on the edit menu, a new element will open. This new element contains various options for the selected template. Click on the text 'Edit' to modify the selected template.

Step 3: Edit a variable
When you are in the editing screen for the selected template, the 'Variables' tab will open automatically. If this does not happen, you must open it by clicking on 'Variables' in the various tabs.

Select a variable whose display name you want to translate by clicking on it. Then click on the pen icon or the edit option in the edit menu.

Step 4: Adjust the caption in the dialog tab
The editing screen for the selected variable will now open in the sidebar. To set a translation for the selected variable, you need to change the caption This option is found in the 'Dialog' tab.

You can now enter the translation under 'Caption'. To add a translation, you need to use a specific format. Below are different formats you can use for the 'Caption' input field:
- @\TranslationName
- @\Group\TranslationName
- @\Group\SubGroup\TranslationName
Haven’t created translations yet?
For variables, you need to add your own translations. Additionally, you must set up multiple languages.

Once you have entered the correct format in the display name input field, click the blue 'Save' button. Then you can save the template by clicking on the save icon. See the image below for the location of the save icon.

My variable doesn’t appear in the dialog?
Ensure that the switch for 'Place on dialog' (in the General tab) is active and click 'Save'.
