Resolving issues with references and bookmarks

Some eformity templates use references (bookmarks) to place data at specific locations in the document. Problems can arise with these references. In this article, we explain the issue and how to resolve it.

The problem

If data is no longer being processed in the template, it may be that the bookmarks have been deleted. It is crucial to avoid deleting bookmarks from a document at all times. If bookmarks are deleted, the reference will also be lost.

We always strive to make it almost impossible to delete bookmarks. However, if you have managed to delete bookmarks (which is not intended), you will receive an error message. This error message will look like this: 'Error! Reference source not found.'

The solution

To solve this problem, you can try to restore an older version of the template. If you do not have an older version, you can try to reinstate the bookmarks. If neither is possible, you can delete the error message and type the correct text manually.
