I keep getting a message about enabling macros
Macros are used to perform various functions, such as turning logos on and off and controlling printers. It’s possible that you may receive an error message about setting up macros. This article explains how to configure them.
The problem
Macros can be used by malicious entities to spread viruses or spyware. For this reason, security settings in Microsoft Office have been increasingly tightened, including disabling macros in documents by default.
The solution
To address this issue, eformity uses digital certificates to sign macros. Digital certificates contain information about both the software developer (in this case, eformity) and the certification authority that issued the certificate. This ensures that macros signed with the relevant certificate can be trusted.
To enable macros, two steps need to be followed:
- Ensure that our certificate is marked as trusted.
- Ensure that digitally signed macros in Office are enabled.
